Under 8s help-out as ball-boys for C-Grade
It was green and white stripes for players of all sizes on Saturday as members of the Barnies Raiders under-8s came along to join in the fun of the men's game. Brighouse had the pleasure of having ball-boys from the Raiders under 8s where Billy ran the team on and also helped retrieve the balls with teammates Michael, Charlie and Zeke. It's another sign of the latest new directions for the Barnstoneworth Orange club. After more than twenty years of teams in the adult comp, th

Denley settle early nerves to win
Denley Moor have come from behind to play out a strong win against Blayney in their latest match. Blayney’s Brad Tims opened the scoring three minutes from the start, but Denley striker Harley Smith was quick to level. Minutes later Blayney’s William Moresby made the most of a one-on-one duel with keeper Jerome Luke to hit the lead 2-1. As the half went on Denley settled into their game. Smith found space and lofted the ball over the Blayney keeper’s head. The keeper recovere

United too good for CYMS Gold
A confident win by Barnstoneworth United over CYMS Gold has secured the side’s position near the top of the C-Grade table. Striker Glenn Harpley found the ball at his feet right in front of goal to open the scoring. Marty Felice kept up his recent form to make it 2-0 by half time. CYMS Gold couldn’t make the most of their chances, and it was a toe-poke from United defender Wayne Stephens that put the icing on the cake to finish the game 3-0.

Brighouse secure draw in ‘gritty’ Cowra derby
Barnstoneworth C grade side Brighouse continues to break new ground and add competition points to its Orange and District Football Association 2019 season. After two successive losses to Kinross Wolaroi School and club mates United, both 2-0 affairs, Brighouse brought their A game to Sir Jack Brabham Park on Sunday with perhaps their best first half of the season. Fielding four Cowra mid-fielders, Brighouse were up against former B grade side Cowra Eagles, in what shaped up t

Wins for both Barnies B-Grade sides
Currently in 2nd place on the B-grade table, Barnstoneworth Rangers consolidated their position with a strong win over Saints Stars. (And yes, we know this photo is from the other B-Grade match. The Barnies camera couldn't make it to the Rangers game....) After a hard, opening twenty minutes of play with only 10 players, Rangers striker Dylan Halls scored a world class screamer, taking the side into the break with the advantage. Soon after Saints came back with a goal to even

Barnies Beyond Blue too good for Ex-Services
A hat-trick of goals from striker Chris Davis made all the difference as Barnies Beyond Blue took home a strong win over Ex-Services Bengals in their B-Grade clash on Saturday. A goal each from Josh Horsley and Kaelan McCarthy rounded out the 5-0 victory. Team manager Matt Barr was delighted by the team’s effort. “The score speaks for itself,” Barr said. “It was a case of a team of mates playing for each other.” “The side has established a string defensive unit, bolstered by

Derby sees Brighouse keep second-half clean-sheet against United
Two first half goals from Barnies United’s Andy Holmes gave his side the win in the C-Grade clash with club mates Brighouse, with defender Mick Carpenter claiming the assist for the second. With United feeling the absence of key attackers on the day, Brighouse dug deep and continued to show signs of improvement. United defender, Mick Flynn, returned to the side after international duties but his inspirational performance failed to deliver second half goals. With United's elde

Hat-trick the highlight of Denley win
In C-Grade, Saturday's tussle between 3rd-placed Tahs Mariners and 4th-placed Denley Moor got off to the best start for Denley. A ball across the face of the goal was untouched until Denley winger Phil Bennet found the net. Denley striker Shepherd Shambira made his first pass of the season, to find winger Harley Smith waiting. The first time strike made it 2-0. The third came when a sideline cross from Al Reeder was sent into the back of the net off the head of a tahs defende

Come-from-behind win in B-Grade for Rangers
A plucky performance from Barnies Rangers delivered a hard-fought win, over Saints Ignite in B-Grade. Taking the field with the bare starting eleven, Rangers hit the front early with a goal from Dylan Halls. But Saints hit back and then took a 2-1 lead just before half-time. Down to ten after the main break, it took a late arrival before Rangers had a full team on the park again. When Tyler Mendham spotted the Saints keeper off his line, it was a volley from half-way that br
