End of the season for two Barnies C-Grade sides

Two of the three Barnstoneworth sides still in contention in the C-Grade finals series bowed out after losses on Saturday.

A single goal late in the second half from Waratahs Over 35s that was all that separated Barnies United from the grand final.

A change of strategy to park the bus in the wake of 5-0 defeat two weeks ago, kept Denley Moor in the contest against Blayney.

A chip over the keeper’s head by Denley winger Harley Smith gave his side the early lead, before Dylan Connelly equalised.

Denley midfield Dan Hillier blasted the ball into the back of the net over a Nick Hyndes assist only for Jessie Wright to level for Blayney from a penalty.

With the game locked at two-all at half time, it took a rush of goals in succession from Will Morley, Ray Matheson and Brad Timbs to hand Blayney the win.

The uncanny ability of Denley striker Richie Shields to notch a hat trick of finding both posts and the cross bar, rather than the net, added to the result.
