Coach pulls on boots to help Barnies United A-Grade at Redmond
Barnstoneworth United faced a tough challenge to hang on to the top spot on the Orange A-Grade Football Association ladder when they made the road trip to Millthorpe’s Redmond Oval to take on the 4th placed Tigers.
Down to only 10 players on Saturday due to illness, work and family commitments, coach Chris Jacobs pulled on the boots to make a return to the top grade.

United finished the game with four goals without reply, two to Alex Elliott, one each to Luke Masotti and Ibby Yunusa.
Coach Chris Jacobs believes the match was “the best performance of the year considering the quality of the opposition and no respite for the bare eleven”.
“Bill Foster and Mitch Jacobs worked hard to cover the old man when not in possession of the ball and keeper Jerome Luke stood tall between the sticks,” Jacobs said.
“Aaron Driver had a masterful game after backing up from a very physical Astley Cup game.”
As it happened, Barnies lost the top spot after Waratahs FC played their catch up game on Sunday.
Over the next few weeks Barnies United face all the teams in the top 4 which will go along way to deciding the final makeup.
