Brighouse bounce back at Bernie, after Brough brace

After a week off, due to the snow-affected round 14 being cancelled, Brighouse came back to the ODFA C Grade competition with renewed vigour and a number of new faces returning to the ranks of the largely over 35s side.

Journeyman Mark Brouff added to his goal tally with a brace against the young Waratahs Wanderers in round 15 at Bernie Stedman field on Saturday.

The young guns narrowly edged out Brighouse by a goal with the result a nail-biting 3-2.

With tahs scoring first, Brouff’s brace began in the first half when he headed in a neat corner kick from Matt Barr, the unmarked Brouff making no mistake to level the scores 1-1.

With tahs leading 2-1 at the break, Brouff struck again in the second half with a shot from range which curled into the goal with some assistance from the blustery wind.

Despite his heroic efforts Brighouse couldn’t find the equalizer but were content with their performance against one of the best and fastest sides in C grade.
