Brighouse are over 35s runners-up after tense grand final
Brighouse will finish the regular ODFA season with some silverware after being named the second best over 35s side in the Orange competition.
Their runners-up status was confirmed on Sunday when they battled Waratahs O35s for the 2019 title.
Tahs took the match 4-0 with four second half goals.
Both sides were backing up from Saturday’s C grade games, with Brighouse only able to field one sub.
To their credit, the Barnstoneworth outfit held Tahs to a 0-0 scoreline for 70 minutes before the petrol gauge began to show empty.
The green and white striped team left nothing on the field apart from a large chunk of centre back Josh Towns’ epidermis after he put in a players’ player performance to continually frustrate the attacking Tahs.
At times the contest became heated but the referee kept his cards close to his chest despite a number of incidents which threatened to spill over into more than a push and shove.
Waratahs showed their class with a deft passing game and great ball control, to dominate the latter stages.
In their earlier C-Grade game against CYMS Gold on Saturday, Brighouse went down 2-0 after conceding a goal in each half.
