PRESSURE :  Denley mid-fielder Matt Barr tries to get past Brighouse defender Drew Harris in Saturday’s clash in the Orange Over 35s Football competition while Denley striker Harley Smith (at right) streaks into a gap.

A four-one win has taken Brighouse to the top of the Orange Over 35s Football competition table.

Their opponents in the latest round, Denley Moor, dominated early play, scoring first when Phil Bennett ran onto a well-placed through-ball to find the back of the net.

But Brighouse struck back quickly. Andy Holmes fired an unstoppable shot from the top of the box, before striker Glen Harpley latched onto a long ball to skirt around the keeper and score.

Up 2-1 at the break, Brighouse made the most of their chances while Denley bounced shot after shot off the post and the cross bar.

A Harpley cross found Richie Shields in a good position. His curling kick bounced through Denley keeper Pat Driver’s hands.

Sheilds and Driver clashed soon after in front of the goal, the  ball trickling out the of the collision to roll across the line. The final score : a  4-1 win to Brighouse.

Gladdyatahs are shaping up a force to be reckoned with this season after a win over Barnestoneworth United.

It was United that put the pressure on early, but Gladdies scored first.

United hit back when an attacking raid down the right flank, put Wes Miller into a one-on-one duel with the Gladdies keeper. Some fast foot work saw United level the score.

United keeper Matt Savaro made a number of big saves to keep his side in the game, but Gladdies found the net twice more to deliver the 3-1 win.

In the round’s other game, last year's prermiers, MIllthorpe, notched their first win of the season with a 6-3 victory over Waratahs Old Boys.

The Tigers shot to the lead slotting three goals to nothing in the first half, before Waratahs found their feet to bring back it to 4-3.

A few changes of keeper for Waratahs did little to stop the onslaught, MIllthorpe adding two more including a goal off the very last kick of the game.
