Two games in a weekend, two wins for Denley

A gutsy come-from-behind win under the lights on Friday night following by a convincing 6-0 victory on Sunday is a sign Barnstoneworth side, Denley Moor is hitting its straps at the right end of the season.
With semis spots now in contention, 5th-placed Denley were keen to get a result, but started the weekend under pressure from a young and fast Kinross side.
A strong shot from Denley striker Harley Smith opened the scoring, only for Kinross’ Matthew Miklejohn to level soon after.
Minutes before the main break a shot from Will Goodlet weaved between the Denley defenders to find the keeper unsighted and hand Kinross the lead at half time.
After stern words at the break, Denley started better. Winger Phil Bennet chased in a Harley Smith corner to level.
After a sending a series of shots wide, midfielder Rickie Shields found the target to send a low shot into the bottom corner, handing Denley the lead.
Kinross kept up the pressure and only a series of saves from stand-in keeper Kye Luke kept Denley in the game.
CYMS Gold started the better in Sunday’s clash against Denley.
An early CYMS header found the cross bar before two shots in the same skirmish bounced off the Denley keeper.
It took another fifteen minutes for Denley to open the scoring. A well-placed cross from new winger Jerome Luke found Harley Smith unmarked to head the ball home. It was the first of a hat-trick of goals for Smith before the half-time break.
An under-strength CYMS side kept up the pressure, but the Denley defence held out. More goals from Phil Bennett and Richie Shields saw out the result.

With Denley's stand-in manager Mike Lewis already telling anyone who will listen how he's yet to drop a game since stepping-in to the new role, the tension is set to become palpable once Dam Rumbold's knee injury recovers enough for the defender and former manager to return from injury.
Lewis' social media followers are dismissing talk of a strategic early retirement to keep his record intact.
