Rangers warm up for B-Grade semi against CYMS, with a win against CYMS

In B-Grade, Barnstoneworth Rangers had high hopes going into the last game of the season against rivals CYMS Green, according to Manager Tori Worboys.

“Rangers turned up in excellent spirits, with a full team a cheer squad egging us on,” Tori Worboys said.

For Rangers, Tyler Mendham found the scoreboard early, and the side's new central defensive line up of Matt Moore and Cody Gardiner had to work hard to keep CYMS out.

CYMS kept up the pressure and were able to equalise before half time.

Matt Moore gave Rangers the lead with a fluky half way free kick that bounced over the keeper’s head, but again CYMS came back.

With 10 minutes left and finals beckoning, it was Mendham who came through to score and deliver the 3-2 win.

“It was a nail-biter of a game, that's for sure,” Tori Worboys said. “The boys did so well, it was a good intense match. But now we have to do it all over again with them next week. "

"But I believe in the Rangers. “

Rangers meet CYMS Green again on Saturday.
